Books lay in tall stacks next to piles of plates at an oak desk. Candles dripped hot wax on to a growing mound upon the wood. All was silent in the study save for the occasional turning of a page.

Across the still waters of Tyr'Arien, the sun peeked over the horizon. The light of a new dawn shone through the window. Finn squinted as the light hit his eye, looking up from his book. He blinked in surprise. Morning already?

The Half-Mer stepped back from his desk, looking at the mess his desk had become with a sigh. As he began to collect the plates strewn across the desk, Finn reflected on his situation. This was becoming a regular occurrence. He was always hungry.

He’d often found himself in the kitchen snacking on something between meals. During meals he found he was eating entire plates more than was usual, drinking more ale than he ever had before. And yet, somehow he hadn’t gained any weight.

Finn licked his fingers as he tidied up the rest of the plates, eyes drifting towards the stack of books. The only time he wasn’t hungry was when he was learning. He idly flipped open a book, just taking a peek.

Ever since the incident with the door, something had shifted within him. Texts that had never garnered interest suddenly called out to his mind. Obscure legends, works from disciplines foreign to him, cultures that he’d never experienced, it was never enough. He had to know more.

More hidden knowledge- Long dead civilizations, secrets hidden in ruins, stories lost to time, folklore, tomes of gods, children's stories, the names of dead kings, anything.

Everything.

It was all so… delicious.
