PART I: It Came From The Rafters

"I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will
live, even though they die..."

- Ioannes XI:XXV -

- Highmeadow -
Reports find their way to the Konig, the Landgraf, and the Reiksheer, all describing similar events. The city-guard, assisted by a group of heroes, has repelled an attack by some elusive menace. Thanks to their efforts, only two guards and three civilians have lost their lives. The brief hysteria, caused by the attacker, has abated. The citizenry shifts their attention to other things, reassured by the presence of the soldaten. For now, the capital of the Mittelreik is safe.

- Arbetein -
At a crossroads outside of town, beside a traveler's shrine, an elderly man has struck a deal with an adventurer from the city. This clandestine affair is known to none, for loose lips are a chink in the armor of secrecy. The adventurer is given a special task, an arduous task, and in return, the elderly man promises him a "magnificent reward." Is this a false promise, or an oath? A fair deal or a deception? These thoughts would weigh on his conscience for days to come.

PART II: The Verseivan Connection

"To the knights of faith
nobody believes!!!"

- Dejan Stojanovic -

- Highmeadow -
In the Cathedrals of Highmeadow, the clergymen grow restless. Someone has been poking around at the Church outside of the city. An old monk called Phineas believes it is an omen. He can be seen walking the streets, muttering about the inevitable demise of faith in the Mittelreik and beyond. Most dismiss him as a lunatic.

Meanwhile, Feldwebel Adalweiss, who formerly defended the Academy by Highmeadow's wall, retires from the Reiksheer. In broad daylight, leaving his family behind, he flees the city. His subordinates say he was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. He hadn't been sleeping. Rumor has it, he rides for the land of Florentia.

- Arbetein -
At a crossroads outside of town, an elderly man is spotted again. He looks different this time. Is it his clothes? And who speaks to him? None can say. The duo never lingers. Every time they leave, the nearby shrine to Oklamat feels a little less holy, as if it's been dragged through mud and shadow.

- Verseiva -
Things take a turn for the worst in the distant Kingdom of Verseiva. There are attacks in the forest, with whole caravans of merchants vanishing. Patrols that stray too far from the roads suffer a similar fate. Most dismiss these happenings as the work of criminals- perhaps a highly-organized gang of highwaymen. Some guard captains, stationed in the garrisons of Oleiros, Coizela, and Monsaraz are not so sure...
